1. Take Your Time When Eating a Meal
Your mum probably always told you that you should eat slowly, and it’s true. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register the fact that you are full after a meal. That means your brain is always playing catch up with your stomach if you are gulping it down! Enjoying your food slowly will help you eat fewer calories while still feeling satisfied.
2. Drink Water Before a Meal
Numerous studies show that people who are attempting to lose weight often lose faster if they drink a glass of water before each meal. The water gives you a sense of fullness, leading to fewer calories being consumed during the meal. Drinking water before eating also increases overall hydration which in turn promotes better metabolism. Better metabolism means better weight loss.
3. Take the Stairs Whenever Possible
Every step counts. Taking the stairs means you are burning more calories than using the lift or escalator. Not rocket science but once you get the habit you will notice the difference. Remember, every step taken takes you closer to your goal.
4. Eat Breakfast Breakfast
This really can be the most important meal of the day. Starting your morning with healthy breakfast choices not only fuels you for movent, but people who eat breakfast are less likely to be craving snacks throughout the morning. Breakfast also stimulates your metabolism, keeping it higher for longer, a must for permanent weight loss. A breakfast recommendation: Porridge with blueberries and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
5. Move for 5 minutes
Getting your 5 a day is something that we know about, it’s usually aimed at getting our fruit and veg intake in though. So lets try it with movement. Anything you can do for 5 minutes that will get you out of breath and your heart rate a little higher than normal for just 5 minutes, 5 times a day. It’s that easy. So walk like you’re late, do the housework with attitude or simply stand up and sit down at your desk a few times. Over the course of the day you will have done almost half and hour of exercise without the fuss of heading to the gym!
