Take a moment to tot up just how much you spend on trying to lose weight and feel better about yourself. Do it now or as soon as you have the time, it’s important. Get a pen and paper and write it down. If you can, do it for the last 12 months from the date of reading this post. You will be amazed at the money coming out of your account over a year! It could include any of the following……
- slimming club membership
- gym membership
- dietary foods
- weight loss pills
- exercise clothing
- books (here’s one you really should read)
- equipment
- personal training
- online courses
- hypnosis tracks
- and the list goes on…
How much was it? When you have had a sit-down and recovered from the shock, ask yourself this; was it worth it? Did it work? Are you fitter, slimmer and happier now than you were one year ago? If yes, well done you, it was well worth the time, effort and investment. If the answer is no, what are you going to do now? Give up on your dream or do the same thing again when you get a sudden spurt of motivation?
Why do either?? Doing the same thing will lead to the same result and giving up keeps you in that unhappy state you want to get away from!
The cheapest way to lose weight and keep it off is simply to change your behaviour.
You are where you are now because of the choices you have made in the past. You will be where you want to be because of the choices you make now.
Changing a habit is easy when you know how. To change a habit, take a small win and build on it. Changing a habit starts with a thought. If you want to change a habit, take action. Be focused.
When you go on a diet it feels like just one thing you need to change; to eat differently right. But, to produce that one change in behaviour, there are many micro changes needed to make that one change not just happen, but stick. You create new patterns or interrupt the existing patterns and think in a different way and then repeat the new behaviours for a period of time until they become the norm.
4 things you need to change a habit
- A strong desire to change
- An achievable and realistic goal
- Plus a step by step plan towards it
- A method of dealing with the issues that have always held you back
You already know what is good to eat and what will pile on the pounds. You know what exercise is and the benefits it has on your mental and physical health. That’s not was this is about. As personal trainers we could stand in front of you and say do this 3 times a week and eat this, but would you. With our NLP hats on, we would help you get to grips with the things that have always held you back and guide you through strategies for change that are so simple to do you would never look back. You may be on a diet but what happens when…
- you are alone at home with the munchies?
- that ‘particular issue’ that causes you to eat bags of crisps or down a bottle of wine, rears its ugly head again?
- the reason you piled the weight on in the first place is not dealt with?
- your lack of self-esteem takes a hold again?
- you reach your target weight?
Answer – you deal with them or you fail again and waste yet more money!
Summary
Losing weight, feeling happy and healthy can be an expensive business. Even more so if you do not consider the inner you as well. It usually ends up back at square one. Start at the top, with your mind and the body will follow. It will work out to be much cheaper and more successful in the long run. Fact!
