Dealing with Depression
Such sad news today. One of the greatest comedy actors of a generation has sadly passed away. People will be saying how on earth can someone who outwardly has so much success, so funny, caring and so much love be suffering so much inward pain.
Depression can hit anyone at any time , it doesn’t have a remit of the typical type of person it should attack… Its silent and it hides within the person eating them from the inside out.
Depression is very real, people that come into my practice, sit on the couch and say they are fed up with life, they feel they have no purpose and no drive… If you feel that you are one of these people you certainly aren’t alone so talk to someone, anyone, call the Samaritans… Just know and realise that someone will listen, people do care and the support is out there.
So why do we get depressed?
Life is so complex, sometimes it can feel that we are constantly bombarded with stressful situations creating a pressure cooker of tension inside our minds. We can feel sometimes that we don’t have the time or the resources to solve our current negative situation. If you were to write down all the things in your life that were not right, all the things that were causing you upset the list alone could overpower you.
Take one step a time, one issue at a time, it’s like peeling an onion, to get to the core you must first remove the layers. Don’t live with the labels people give you.. Don’t hate yourself, value where you are and where you are will have more value, but first of all you must begin to value yourself … this can be so hard, but try, please for your own sake.
There is no magic wand, but lets try to wake up and begin to see the world again…
